[attr="class","post"]"Ugh!Today!" It had just been one of those days as the white haired male flopped down onto his bedding, burying his face in his pillow, his sword clanging to the ground, still in his hand. Training had gone even longer than it should have, and with all of the new people, it was really tiring. Honestly, he was surprised he wasn't getting promoted with all the orders he had been barking at everyone today. Still, he sniffed the air and had to wonder why on earth dinner wasn't being made. Oh. Right. It was his turn. There was a groan as he pushed himself up and stripped off his weapon belt and anything extra that he had been wearing, like bracers and whatnot from training. It didn't take him long to realize that his sister still wasn't home, but he figured that was probably for the best since he had been slacking on starting dinner.
After a bit of time he just left the food to simmer for awhile, some sort of stew he had decided to make, with a side of fresh bread that he had procured that morning. There was still daylight outside, even if it was getting to be the darker of the evening hours, but he wasn't worried about his sister just yet. He was sure that she would stroll in any minute now and tell him about her day. He lay back on his bed, putting his arms up under his head as he just stared up at the ceiling. He wondered for a bit how his parents would see them. Would they be proud of the fine warriors that they had become? Would they be happy with how Yue had been raised? Or was this not the life that they had wanted for them? These were the questions that he always pondered. Still, he snapped out of it upon hearing the footsteps approaching their doorway. "Hey there, Young Warrior! Who'd you beat today?"
Yue was always happy to return home, because she knew that her brother would be there waiting to greet her. So when she entered through the doorway, all covered in dirt, twigs in her hair and leaves stuck to parts of her arms and legs she let a smile show with the corner of her lips. The first thing she noticed was the smell of the food, it smelt so good she had to keep herself from drooling. So hearing his words spoken when she entered the room, made Yue fold her arms over her chest and quirk a brow at her brother. "Young warrior, yes. And very fierce as well. As for who I beat today. Just some trespassers while out scouting." And by trespassers she meant some of those from the Sun Clan. She and a few others made sure to teach them a lesson about coming near their village.
After her scouting, she had wandered off on her own again. It was something she often did. Hence why she was covered in dirt and such. Unfolding her arms and letting them rest back at her side she then tilted her head. "What about you old warrior? How did you do today?" She was of course teasing him when she said old. Seeing how laid back he was, Yue thought to herself it must have been a rigorous day of training. "Also, what's for dinner? It smells good. Though the aroma hasn't hit its peak yet. So...you must have started dinner late." But Yue couldn't blame him, she'd be patient and wait for dinner to be ready.
[attr="class","post"]"Who? Me? You couldn't poooooosssiibly be referring to meeee." He stood up and made some broad and dramatic movements with his arms as he made his way towards her, taking her firmly in his grasp and proceeding to pick on her as per his usual older brother duties. "I can't pooosssibly be an OLD MAN! I don't even have a wife! Just a puny little sister who is always so covered in muck!" He mentioned, pulling some of the twigs out of her hair before moving off and checking on the slightly bubbling stew. His expression flattened a bit at the mention of him starting dinner late and he turned and pointed his spoon at her. "And if I had started it on time, it'd be cold by the time you got here! Talk about late!"
But he knew that her heart often took her into the wilds and off on her own, it always had, ever since she could walk. He supposed that worried him, but perhaps that was why he raised her to be such an avid fighter in the first place. At least while she was off doing goddess only knew what in that jungle, she could at least defend herself if she had to. Still, he supposed he couldn't help it. "I'd go mental if anything happened to you..." It was quiet, probably hadn't actually been meant to be said aloud, but he had, so he dealt with it by completely ignoring it and sitting cross legged on the floor. "So, you should probably go get washed up before dinner is ready."
Yue couldn't help but giggle at his dramatic actions, followed by a grin. She giggled more when she was in his grasp. "Yes, yes you. And I can be tall if I want to. Have you even considered getting a wife? There are many eligible women around." She teased again. Eventually her brother would need to settle down. Have a family, if their parents were alive or even their mother. Would she have pushed Enki to find a wife by now? Maybe. Pushing those thoughts to the back of her mind her grin now diminished by a frown as the twigs were taken from her hair. "I love being covered in muck. Just so you know." Yue mumbled that once her brother returned his attention to the stew, but squeaked lightly seeing the spoon now pointed at her. "Okay, so it would have been cold. You could have just reheated it you know." Once again the last part was mumbled.
She had been an adventurous child since she could walk. And there was still much she hasn't seen. Biting her bottom lip, she nodded at his words. "I know. it's the same for me too. I'd go crazy if anything happen to you." She would. Turning on her heel she headed off to get washed up but ran back to say one more thing. "Oh yeah. Guess I shouldn't mention I went wandering in the ruins again. Okay, i'll go get washed now." Yue quickly ran off. The ruins were dangerous, but she enjoyed exploring them even if there have been a few close calls with old traps.
[attr="class","post"]The older of the siblings shook his head as his sister started to leave to wash up, though at the added afterthought of going off to the ruins, he couldn't help but screech about it. "WHAAT!?" But he knew deep down that there was nothing that he could really do about it. The girl would do whatever she wanted to do, though he could at least hope that she would take him with her when she went off to explore the more dangerous areas of their world. At least then if they got stuck in a trap or something, they would be together, and he wouldn't have to worry about whether or not she was even going to make it home.
Still, he let out a soft sigh and went over to scoop the stew into some bowls for them. He then went about tearing apart the bread and setting the dinner for the both of them on trays and brought them over to where they would eat. He sat down and just waited for the girl to return. Once she did, he looked back up at her and tilted his head to the side a bit. "Do you really think that I need to get a wife?"
She flinched hearing his screech, but Yue just continued to grin. Maybe next time she decided to wander out to the ruins she would ask her brother to come, after all should she actually fall into one of those old traps and be stuck there. She'd have someone to help her out. Most of the traps she has come across, she has already taken care of. But Yue remembered the one of the elders saying that there were many. Put there by her ancestors to keep trespassers out. Washing up, she got all the muck off herself as well as the twigs and leaves which had been stuck to her. Returning to where her brother was, she took a seat across from him and parted her lips to speak after he asked his question. "Well, I think you should. I mean. I want you to be happy Enki." Yue picked up her bowl of stew.
She was old enough to take care of herself, and it wasn't fair that he had to keep taking care of her all the time. "It's your choice though bro. You're a strong fighter, a great cook. And I bet if mom was still here, she'd have already found you a woman." But, as she just said. It was his choice. Because Yue also didn't mind it just being the two of them. Picking up a piece of bread, she dipped it into the stew and then popped it in her mouth beginning to chew. "Mm, wis is so dewicious." She said with her mouth full. It was really really good, so as soon as she swallowed she dipped the rest of her piece of bread in the stew and ate that too.
[attr="class","post"]"Oh Goddess knows that's the truth!" He mentioned at the thought of his mother already finding him a woman. "She was trying to set me up with girl's my age when I was still just a little thing. Couldn't even handle a sword! And this woman was just like... 'But Enki! A strong man needs a strong woman!'" He smiled and shook his head a bit before dipping his bread in his bowl. Anothe shake of his head when his sister spoke with her mouth full. "Speaking of, we need to work on your manners if you're ever going to find a good husband." Of course it was an unintentional jab at her also not having a significant other, but it wasn't like either of them really needed to carry on the family line at that given moment.
There was silence for a bit, at least from him, as he ate his dinner, soon leaning back and relaxing once it was finished. "So. The ruins huh? What are you exploring there for anyways? Anything in particular?" Though, he doubted it. His sister was not really one to have much of a purpose behind her wanderings. Still, maybe she was looking for some sort of object or artifact, or maybe some sort of clue or something to lead her on a greater adventure. Whatever it was, if there was any sort of purpose, he wanted to know. Even if there wasn't, it might be better. But hey, at least now he knew where she was in case she ever didn't come home around the time she was supposed to.
Yue laughed after swallowing her food. Either she had not been born yet, or was too young to remember that. "Mother really said that? I wonder if that is something her mother told her." She took another piece of bread and dipped it in her stew once more, once again popping it into her mouth and chewing. Yue choked on her food a little as she listened to her brother. Swallowing quickly, she then threw a piece of bread at him. "I....have g-good manners." She replied while clearing her throat of the food, and besides she was not looking for a husband nor did she want one. At this moment at least. And if she were looking for one, he'd have to be handsome. A good warrior, and someone worthy of her.
She ate her stew in silence after that, wiping the edges and rims with the last of her bread before also leaning back. Patting her stomach she smiled. There was nothing like a full belly of food after a good day, especially hearty stew. Closing her eyes and lifting her arms to place them behind her head, she parted her lips to reply to his question. "Nah. Nothing in particular. I just love wandering the old halls, and sitting in the old courtyards. But...." There were the stories she had heard growing up, and while wandering the ruins she saw so many things. Statues of the goddess of the moon and the sun god, echoes of what used to be. "I just wonder why. If we all at one time were at peace, what do you suppose caused the peace to end?"
Yue didn't like the sun clan, but those were ruins of a kingdom where both clans once lived. Maybe she should explore the ruins even further and find anything from the old times.
[attr="class","post"]He listened as his sister spoke. Peace... He supposed that once upon a time the two clans were at some sort of peace, but now, they were constantly at war with one another. He didn't really have a good answer for the question that she asked, but he supposed he could put a bit of thought into it. "Perhaps over the usual things. Love lost, pride, jealousy, arrogance, ignorance.. All the things that make us the flawed creatures that we are." He shrugged a bit, looking towards their ceiling. Was it because of those reasons that their father had died? Was fighting in this war, for the pride of one's self and one's people, really worth it? What would happen if he or his sister went off to fight, and it didn't work out for the best?
"Do you think that there would be a way to end it? The war?"
Of course that would just be taboo, wouldn't it? The war had been going on for so long, no one even really knew why they were fighting anymore, just that they had to. It was in their blood now. But he never could stop wondering if this was what their parents had wanted for them. Then again, his father had been a wonderful and proud warrior, died in combat, and he was sure that had he been around, he would have raised his son in the same prideful heroic manner that he had no doubt been raised in by their grandfather. Well, above all else, they were happy, and at least they had each other. "Maybe we can go to those ruins together tomorrow, eh?"
[attr="class","yuepost"] She shrugged at his answers. Maybe those were the reasons, some of the stories she did hear from others were always different anyways. Moving to sit up, Yue tilted her head to the side. thinking for a moment on how to reply to her big brother. When she did think of something, she parted her lips to speak. "I don't know. If there was a way, wouldn't we have thought of something already?" She really wanted the war to end, but in order for that to work. They'd need to come to a deal or something with the sun clan elder or leader.
There was also another idea, but their people have already tried that approach and nothing. "Maybe if we keep praying to the goddess of the moon, she will answer. Though a lot of our people have already tried that and she has not answered our prayers." Could the goddess have abandoned them? And refused to listen to their prayers anymore? No. The goddess would never do that. When her brother mentioned going to the ruins together tomorrow she smiled and nodded. "Alright, tomorrow. We'll both go. But right now, i'll wash the dishes."
[attr="class","post"]The rest of the night passed with idle conversation and the washing of dishes and clothing. Enki got himself all washed up before turning in for the night, as he no doubt had an early morning with all those trainees. He did, however, make his sister promise to wait for him to be done at training before going off to the ruins, so with any luck, she would agree.
The next morning he woke well before dawn and got himself dressed and ready for the day. His hair was always a mess, so he didn't really bother fixing it. He put on his weapons and went to put on his armor before going off to his daily routine of his own warm up and exercises before meeting the little trainees at the practice grounds. His day went by relatively well, and they were finished around lunch time, when he returned to the hut in search of his sister and possibly something to eat. "Yuuuueeeeeeee~ Didja make me something yummy?" But was his sister even there?
[attr="class","yuepost"] Yue had slept well that night and the next day she was up early. Having grabbed a apple from nearby, she left the home to go out and do some training of her own. Yue returned home a few hours later to start on some lunch. Having placed her weapons nearby, she began by cutting up some veggies and placing them in some water that she put over the fire to boil. Yue then added a few herbs, and some smoked meat to add flavor. It smelled good, but it was still missing something to make it really pop. So Yue began to rummage around until she found some mild spices in some satchels. Going back to the soup she sprinkled it in and stirred the soup around until it was ready. And good thing she just finished because no sooner had she finished the soup and served her portion into a bow did she hear her brothers voice.
"I did make something really yummy Enkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii." Yue called out as she got another bowl, scooping the soup up with the big ladle and pouring it into the bowl in her hand. She only hoped he was going to like this, because she felt like she rushed this soup. But that was only because she was really excited. They were both going to explore the ruins today, so after lunch maybe just maybe they could bring some fruit to snack on. "I made some soup. Think you could grab some bread? Unless we ate it all last night?"
[attr="class","post"]Gods did it smell delicious! But that may have just been because he had forgotten to really eat breakfast. He smiled a bit and dug around for some bread when his sister had asked. "Luckily enough we still have a bit left. This is the rest of it though. We really should probably go shopping at some point in the future, hmm?" Of course he basically devoured the soup and his portion of the remaining bread before getting himself ready for the afternoon's trip out to the ruins. He made sure he had a small kit of first aid preparation just in case something happened while they were out, as well as his own weapons and a small bit of dried meat and fruit for a snack, as well as a small skin of water. After all, he did like to be prepared for things like this. "Alright sister, lead the way."
