Wesley coughed as water rolled over his body, his body stirred awake by the cold waves. "Where... am I...?" He said to himself as he forced himself to stand. His body ached as he tried to recall to events that led to the point of him losing conciousness. "Okay... I first dug myself out of the tower... then I kidnapped the-" He continued to say to himself before cutting himself off as he remembered what happened. He remembered what happened he kidnapped that noble who wanted him dead, borrowed a fishing boat, then ran into a storm as he tried to find a way through friendly ships so he could... take care of his little problem.
His bag that held his crossbow and tanto was still attached to himself so he could defend himself if he had to. Which led him to the next thing, knowing his luck that noble most definately survived the storm as well. He had to put him down as soon as he could. So where the hell was he? He had to be put down as soon as possible or else things would get bad for him. Bailing out of a army leaving them high and dry was desertion, things would not go well, but kidnapping a noble that could easily lead to his execution. Or so he thought he did not know of the penalties for doing so.
He started searching the beach looking for the noble, if he could just find him before anyone else did that and not get caught in the act he would be home free. Then all he had left to do was just survive the war nothing else, with a little luck he could be able to help his village a lot. Or if he pulled something well magical get promoted to a very low ranking noble, but that in itself would bring in it's own set of problems as well. As he searched he spotted his quarry, one problem there were walls in the distance along with towers. Maybe he could get lucky and the watchman was caught napping as it was still dawn or maybe they would be far enough away to be spotted with accuracy.
When he managed to make it to the body he put his hand on the prone noble's neck checking for a pulse. He breathed a very short quiet sigh of relief, there was absolutely no pulse and that was the final loose end tied up. But he still had to be cautious, he checked for a pulse again a few minutes later, getting the same result. Looks like his luck made a come back just for these few moments; his quarry, this noble was not coming back to haunt him or so he hoped. He wondered what was going to happen next, were the ones behind the walls hostile and wanted to kill him.
He moved into the jungle not very deeply, incase the ones who built the wall were hostile. It was better to be safe than sorry. After all if he was going to get back to his military he would have to survive that long; death would make everything he had done useless.

Ashe stirred herself from her doze and opened her eyes, loosening her dagger from its sheath as the stranger rose from the sand. She watched as it bent beside the other corpse, the first one she had noticed, and saw that he was dead.
She had been supervising his unconscious body for as long as he had been there. She had watched as the ocean delivered him to the shore. And now he was awake, and if she was being honest with herself, she had more than a little curiosity about what he would do next. She wasn’t familiar with the survivors, the ones who had made their living on the shore, her shore, and she intended to introduce herself.
Her ears pricked up as the stranger made his way directly towards the jungle, towards her. Suddenly, with the faint hiss of metal on leather, her dagger was free from its sheath and loose in her grip.
“Keep coming, I dare you,” she muttered under her breath, ensuring it was too soft for him to possibly hear.
And then he was upon her, and she flicked the dagger up to his throat in a deft motion and whispered, “Don’t move.”
Hm... this feeling where is it coming from...? Wesley thought to himself as he walked towards the jungle. He felt that someone was watching him, but he could not tell exactly from where was it from. Was this sensation coming from the wall? He stopped walking momentarily as wondered about it. After a short period of time (roughly 30 seconds) he shook his head before walking again. "That storm must have knocked more out of me than just energy." He said to himself as he walked. His senses were a complete mess he figured he had to wait it out give it a day or two before it returned to normal.
There was plenty to be on his mind, but first things were first he had to get off this beach then he had to find food, drinkable water, and shelter though to him it did not have to be in that order. As he gotten closer to the jungle the sensation kept going away and coming back to him. "Tch, I got to find somewhere to rest up and get my bearings back." He said to himself in a little bit of a louder voice figuring he was alone out here. When he was just entering the jungle he felt his sixth sense that told him that he was being watched turned into a scream of danger. "Shi-" He said to himself and drew his tanto, but it did not make it very far out of it's sheath before he felt a dagger up against his throat.
"Yeah, yeah don't move I understand. Nice ambush there my senses did not pick it up quick enough. I figure you would make a good hunter." Wesley said to the feminine voice, making some small talk as he slowly put his tanto back inside it's sheath as not to move to quick as that could bring some bad results.
(I'll join your thread once this one gets going a bit more.)

Ashe sighed internally, disappointed at the human's lack of fear. She liked the little timid ones, but obviously, this stranger did not want to play her game. You're a human, too, you know, chided a voice inside her head. Ashe dismissed it. She did not like to be reminded.
She released him from her knife-grip and slid the blade back into its scabbard, keeping a hand on it in case the need arose. Her eyes flicked up and down the stranger, taking in his appearance and filing it away for hypothetical future use. He had said that his "senses" had not picked up her "ambush" quick enough. He had figured she must be a hunter. Who must she pretend to be for this one? She must learn more about him; he could be a threat to her if not dealt with quickly. But perhaps she was being too paranoid.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you to be a Moon Clanner," Ashe improvised quickly. Lacing her voice with every hint of normality, she added, "I haven't seen you around here. What brings you?" To complete the facade, she even forced a small smile onto her face.

Wesley felt a wave of relief flow through him when this girl removed her dagger from his neck. Mirroring her moves he kept his hand on the grip of his tanto in case communications broke down into violence. Still thinking about how the girl caught him off guard still had him slightly baffled. How a young girl pulled that he would never know nor would he try thinking about how she did. He watched her eye him, he did the same looking at her committing her image to memory. She was a fairly cute girl in his eyes.
"Hm..? A moon clanner?" Wesley asked her furrowing his brow. "Yeah I am new to this place, as for your second question you can blame mother nature that one." He answered the girl. He saw her smile, but something seemed a bit off, was it a forced smile? He felt his mistrust washing over him, the feeling warned him that it was best to be cautious after all she could be wanting to drive her dagger into his back. "So what is your name?"
He did not know. Of course he didn’t, he’s a stowaway, you see that now, idiot girl, she scolded herself. He does not know the ways.
“Mother Nature, you say?” Ashe repeated quietly as she mulled over his words. She had noticed how his gaze had studied her face, filing her appearance into his memory in case he needed it again. Yes, this one was not one to underestimate. She needed to learn more; curiosity overcame her. But first she must earn his trust.
Plastering on another smile, she explained, casting aside her last words. “Yes, a Moon Clanner…one of two warring clans in this region. You have their look; fair hair, pale skin.” She hesitated for a moment before speaking again. “My name is Catelyn, of the Sun Clan,” she lied easily, offering her hand for him to shake.
Yep mother nature put me here, now I have to figure out a means to survive here. Wesley thought to himself. But he could not fully trust this girl just yet something felt off. The only problem was that he did not know what and that could lead to his death. But she had the upper hand she could have killed you easily earlier you idiot. That dagger of hers is lighter than your tanto meaning that she can draw it much quicker than you. Then it comes down how quickly you react. She can't be trusted fully yet; she could be leading you to a trap out of fear that you could have fought back and survived. The thought traveled in his mind quickly ridiculing him.
"I see so two warring factions, very hostile, and i look like one from the opposing faction got it. Thanks for that information." Wesley said to the girl before hearing what she said next. She might be trying to get you to lower your guard to lure you to death His mistrusting side echoed in his ear. "My name is Joel, from across the sea." He said lying to her just incase as he reached to shake her hand.
Her victory was bittersweet; she sensed his skepticism, but at least he wasn’t trying to kill her. She needed to earn his trust. Ashe kept her smiley facade as she spoke again.
“Well, ‘Joel, from across the sea,’ why don’t you come with me? I have food and drink I can give you, and a place to rest for the night. The jungle is not a place for strangers. The Sun Clan will welcome you warmly.” If he would believe her lie, then she was in great luck. She might even have dinner for the night. The stranger’s stew, a terrible voice in her head whispered.
Wesley's inner sense warned him of the danger of going with this girl. But if he was lucky they could come across a wild animal that he could hunt so she would not have to use her food for him. He mulled it over thinking of whether he should decline in the favor of his senses or accept and run the risk. You know that we will regret going with her, you go with her and you will be going straight into the bear's den. Eventually our luck is bound to run out then... well you know we will be dead idiot. One part of his mind ridiculed him.
"Hm... I think I will have no choice, but to accept for now. We have to get farther away from the beach because it is a matter of time before they check the body on the beach. If they recognize my 'friend' there, there could be a severe reaction. A very unfriendly one, you know a very hostile reaction." Wesley said with a slight shiver traveling down his spine as he accepted Catelyn's offer. "Hey Catelyn I quick question do you know where wild animals appear in this jungle? I ask because I would rather hunt one and we could cook that instead of me wasting your food. It is a better deal for me after all I don't miss very often, plus well I haven't eaten as well as I should have due to my 'friend'... well it would be better to call him like it is. My enemy that is laying dead on the beach." Wesley said with his counter offer, maybe if he hunted something his inner alarms would shut up for a few moments.
Something felt off to him, very off with this girl. Well congratulations moron you finally figured out something was wrong here. But unfortunately you are going the wrong way about it. Why not kill her now just incase before she kills you idiot. He shook his head in a meager attempt to chase off those thoughts. He did not want to kills her if he did not have to after all.
Her moment of triumph dissipated as quickly as it had come. Why was this stranger being so troublesome? Couldn’t he simply return with her? Her olive branch was one he was not like to get anywhere else on the island. Strangers were not taken kindly to; she herself had been living proof. And now this ungrateful foreigner wanted to go off and shoot food for himself. It was difficult for her to prevent her emotions from reaching her face, yet she prevailed.
“Of course,” she managed to say in her warmest voice. “Come, follow me. I can navigate you safely through the jungle. As for the body, it should go unseen. Not many pass through the Forbidden Shore—hence it’s name.
“It’s very kind of you to offer to hunt for yourself. I can, of course, show you a few choice hunting spots. But at least let me get you started with some food? I promise, I won’t keep you long.” No, stranger, you’ll be dead before long. She began to walk, expecting him to follow.
"Sorry for all the trouble I am causing you. Blame the way I was raised, and where I lived you had to work together to survive. We had more than a few harsh years, I don't want to remember them or some of the things we had to do go on from there." Wesley said as he started to follow the girl. She is leading you on moron. There is something strange with how she is acting we both know this. Now lose her before we both end up dead. He already knew everything that his inner voice was telling him. But if he could not learn where wild animals popped up, then surviving here will become that much harder. "So I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Help you help me. Starving is not a good thing to go through trust me."
"I see, well the body will eventually be found if the people behind those wall are who I think they are. We would both rather be safe than sorry unless we both want to be dead." Wesley chimed in.
"Fine, lets get some food then I can share some from what I hunt." Wesley said caving into the girl's request. Opps, careful dumbass your heading right into the den of the beast. One misstep and you are a dead man walking. Why go into her lair? You will just end up dead. Do you remember her dagger? Remember how quick she was with it? That quickness is not of someone that is untrained and with you behind with everything else your following some nice tail jackass. A nice cute innocent little girl, well how innocent is she? You might want to stay on your toes or else it is good night for us... permanently. He knew what his instinct was telling him, and all it did was drive him into watching every little thing.

Ashe hung on his every word. She had learned that information possessed great value, and listening carefully was the gateway to information. There was one thing, however, that didn’t click quite right with what she was hearing.
“...the body will eventually be found if the people behind those walls are who I think they are. We would both rather be safe than sorry unless we both want to be dead.”
She furrowed her brow, ignoring his last words. “And just who exactly do you think they are?” she inquired curiously as she pushed aside a vine in their way. How much about them could this Joel know?

Wesley listened to Catelyn's question as much as he should not reveal things about the empire he might as well. Considering that if they brought their true power to bear nothing would be able to stop them... well so he thought. "I think it could be the empire that conscripted me into service or another empire that they are at war with. Both things considered either possibility is not a good one. That being said my 'friend' on the beach is a noble, someone that is a hell of a lot more important in society that someone from a town in the boonies like me. Not to mention if some of 'his' family is here things would definitely get a lot worse very fast. Whoever is in that fort would get much more aggressive with their soldiers." He said as he followed Catelyn.
I know she looks pleasant and all, being someone you may think you may get feelings for, but if you think a nice little conversation is going to get her to lower her guard you are a lot more foolish than I thought. She planning something and that something is going to make you a pretty dead corpse. Just for the love of god do not tell her everything keep how they operate out of the mix incase she does so maybe they can kill her if she kills you. Wesley's mistrusting side started to poke and prod at him so he did not forget she may be trying to kill him. "You are cute you know that?" Wesley added in as they walked. Smooth move you idiot, that won't flatter her at all.
The empire? The service? Where does he think we are? Her eyebrows narrowed in silent thought as she listened carefully to his response. This stranger—one of those military buffoons, maybe? It would certainly explain his paranoia. No simple castaway could ever be so uptight about—
“You are cute, you know that?”
She was taken so aback by his remark that she found herself stopped in her tracks. Cute? Cute? What kind of maniac was she dealing with? Guarded one moment, and flirting with her the next?
Speechless, Ashe turned to face him. She groped for words, but none would come to her aid. Just pretend to be normal, a voice hissed inside her head. It worked in the past, why shouldn’t it work now?
Somehow, she managed to produce a nervous giggle. It was all beginning to come together. This could work even better than her original plan. If she managed to get close to him, then killing him would be even easier. She supposed she could just stab him here, now, but lugging a human corpse through trees on rough ground was easier said than done, and it made for slow, difficult work. For now, she would assume her best facade.
“Y-you think I’m cute?” she stuttered in her most feminine voice, brushing a strand of loose hair behind her ear. “That’s so nice of you to say, Joel…you’re kind of cute, too.” She forced herself to nervously smile and even managed a blush. Nicely done. Dreke would be proud.
Wesley stopping when Catelyn stopped moving, looks like he caught her off guard. Now what are you up to moron? His mistrusting thought were going on the offensive. Catelyn turned around and she giggled, but it to him it seemed a bit off. Of course it is off nitwit. You just called her cute out of the blue. "Yeah, I think you are cute. Anything wrong with my assumption?" Wesley stated again looks like he might have 'something' here. "Oh really um thanks." Wesley said managing to blush in turn.
I will say it again, now what are you up to? Why are you pretending to be some weak little militant? Wait... don't tell me that's your plan. Ugh, this is one dangerous game you are playing here, but I get what you are doing now. If this girl is setting up a trap, you are setting up your own trap in turn as well. By playing this 'loverboy' routine you think you will get her to think your easy prey is it? Well I hope it works for both our sakes. His mistrusting thoughts calmed down in the hostility level. Well that was one annoyance gone all he could do now is prepare for what might come if his feeling is right.
