Meet our resident (mostly) immortal pirate, Baruth Barazo, also known as Baruth o’ Nine Lives, self-styled ‘King of Pirates’ and reputed plunderer of countless ships. A ruthless hound of the high seas turned Garlean-affiliated privateer, Baruth’s reputation precedes him; he and his fleet are known far and wide as harbingers of salty death, sailors from every nation learning to fear the sound of the carved tentacle-like bowsprits cutting through the waves and the raucous battlecries of Baruth’s motley crew on the westward wind.
Having been washed up - well, not so much washed up as shipwrecked - on the island on which the plot of this site takes place, Baruth and his surviving crew members are hungry for loot, infamy and bloodshed, and not to mention another chance to sail the high seas, whenever that may be. With the invading forces of the Garlean army close to their wreck, there’s a good chance that Baruth will seize the opportunity to join up with them, using his connections as a paid privateer to seek resources, crewmembers and protection as he rebuilds a fleet to sail once more.
Baruth neither knows nor cares about the two feuding clans’ troubles, seeing them only as a new source of plunder and victims, readily challenging either force in bloody conflict if he feels confident that he can overwhelm them. This might initially present some chaos and fear as the warriors of both clans find that Baruth is literally unkillable in combat. However, with the amount of mystics and magicians present on the island, one might just figure out how to dispel Baruth’s curse...and destroy him, for once and for all.

Allies: Baruth’s most prominent and powerful ally would clearly stand to be the invading Garlean army, led by Lord Alabaster. His reputation as a privateer may arouse suspicion and disdain, but most Garlean forces will grudgingly provide him with assistance, as long as the request isn’t ludicrously resource-intensive or dangerous. He isn’t the most polite nor immediately grateful person around, but will remember every debt he has and repay them one way or another.
Enemies: As a privateer, Baruth doesn’t discriminate between his enemies. Any and all factions that the Garlean army antagonises will become his prey, seeing as there is no love lost between him and anyone he attacks. His motto when dealing with an opposing faction is to ‘crush them quick, and crush them hard’, advising the strategy of brutishly launching incessant attacks to overwhelm them at any cost.
Neutrals: Baruth respects the neutrality of individuals clearly uninvolved with his conflicts, such as other shipwrecked survivors and exiles, if they demonstrate the ability to defend themselves and mind their own business, but oftentimes would prefer to watch a faction he is neutral towards burn, then loot their remains, rather than risk him and his crew’s necks for them.
Friends: Baruth values a loyal and fearless fighting spirit over anything else when he looks for companions, and every one of his crewmembers is, in his eyes, a shining paragon of these values he holds so dear. Occasionally, he’ll also consider particularly brave Garlean fighters to be worthy of his companionship, and perhaps even befriend once-neutral bounty-hunters if he finds them truly worthy opponents. As a friend, he is rowdy, chaotic and most likely a toxic influence and will constantly try to talk you into his crew, but will support you loyally in daily life or in combat, if needed.
Nemeses: Anybody that becomes a nuisance to his plans for returning to the sea will be dealt with swiftly and painfully, as will disrespectful snobs who look down and/or insult the dignity and honour of his crew. He is also fiercely hostile towards pacifistic characters, believing that only the strongest, fittest and deadliest deserve the right to live, and will relentlessly hunt these characters if present. Once Baruth’s heart is set on exterminating an individual, he will stop at nothing to make sure they are dead; not time, nor location, nor numbers will cause him to rethink his decision.
Lovers: Baruth is entering his twilight years now, and never in his career has he thought about settling down with someone he truly loves for the rest of his life. He’s perfectly content with the fifteen or so bastards he has left dotted around smuggler’s ports and plundered towns, but if anybody wants to try him, so be it.
Wanted Characters:
-Garlean generals and lords (Lord Alabaster included) to order him around and for him to clash against would be interesting
-A bounty hunter or clan warrior after his blood would be a good source of conflict
-IC crewmen to interact and plunder with would be a godsend
-A magician (necromancer or similar?) who wants to either research his curse, destroy him, or employ him for something else...
