Max had finally decided he had gathered enough food to keep himself well fed and a bit extra for others to take if they desire the food, he simply had to return to smoke the fish and begin preparing the fish properly to allow it to remain persevered and consumed at a later time, hopefully Tim and the others had checked on the crops and watered them with the can he left there, otherwise he'd have to water them himself once again, though it was just one of the responsibilities he took on when he came to this place and called it his new home.
He glanced at the admirable sized pile and figured he should stop, he didn't want to drive the fish extinct, too much fishing and they'll surely die out from the pond, he turned and sat himself down toward a fire pit, with nothing but coal in it while placing his trident just above it, gently placing a small boulder underneath the trident to let it hang over the fire pit, he then got up and went grab some branches off the dead trees, while it was true nature was returning, it was slightly harder for it survive within the courtyard, so close to the water, it wasn't helped by the fact the others had no real care for nature and would constantly chop trees down and burn them for warm, or at least try to, some times he'd find a few attempts to start with a fire with only a single burned paper thrown on top a pile of logs, the placement and size was never going to get a fire going, but luckily Max didn't have to rely on making a fire when he could do so with his magic, he finished gathering enough branches and placed them in the fire pit.
Max then opened his palm and suddenly a bright orange fire ball appeared in his palm and with the gesture toward the fire with his open palm, the fire ball flew in the direction it was sent "flying" to and upon touching the branches almost instantly lit it on fire, the smoke going up into the 3 fish than hung from the trident, he'd cook them normally but with the lack of food back as his house, it didn't feel right to leave the people that were looking for food there feeling left out, so he was going to wait until all the fish were properly preserved before eating the fruit of his labor.
The smoke from the caretaker's fire would be a thick black, definitely visible to anyone close by enough to see the ruins could also spot the smoke as it slowly dissipated into the atmosphere since the day was only beginning to reach it's peak and there was only light clouds in the sky being blown by a small gust of wind, it wasn't enough to annoy most, but just enough to make a the trees rustle among each other and make the tall grass sway. Today was such a nice day it was almost a shame Max had to prepare food for anyone who stopped by, but he was more than happy to oblige, after all they gotta look out for each out here, the animals weren't too keen on having their homes invaded by humans, though strangely enough an animal rarely stopped by the ruins, yet Max felt like he needed to do so despite never even seeing who takes the food 90% of the time.
Perhaps tonight he'll relax and finally read this "Atlas Shrugged" book he heard about, his one of his former clansmen dropped it off along with many books and Max was too distracted to bother with the book and preferred his simpler books, but he was getting a head of himself, he needed to finish smoking his fish and check his crop field first, then he can relax, eat and read all he wanted, though he missed having tea, he recently ran out of it and no former clansmen stopped by for a while now, which was a little odd, but nothing to worry about, Max was sure someone was bound to show up.
An elegant form, draped with delicate silks that mirrored the pearly glow of the moon. A powerful statue, accentuated with golden armour that reflected rays of sun. The two were merry siblings with merry people who lived harmoniously. Although peace was only brief before conflict emerged between the clans that had now split into two.
Or so that was how the legend went, but Quinn heavily listened to little of it. From all the different versions he heard and the different wisdoms he asked, there was little to no explanation on what the conflict arose from. Thus he often though to himself, was there a reason for war anyways? It is possible that division was not from one table turning event, but from a slow progression over time. Either way, he wasn't one who was fond of violence, especially between those who used to be kin.
Tall pillars that heaved under the pressure of wear and tear, Quinn lethargically stepped into crumbles of stone, the beginning of the ol’ famous ruins’ debris. Their territory was quite close to the location, both being inhabitants of the jungle. People didn't frequent the historical landmark much, but the boy was already many generations away from whenever the war first started.
It was quite a learning experience for him, fingers brushing over old stone scripts and runic imbuements. An erie aura lingered around the vegetated paths, but so did a legendary and nostalgic aura.
Stepping over an eroding frame, the blonde readjusted his gear that had been jostled out of place from the trek. A child of the sun, Quinn loved the warmth that his god gave. A sea breeze also occasionally flew itself through the trunks and canopies, lightly billowing his thin pair of trousers and an loose shirt. A cooling factor that was appreciated with the weather did get too hot.
He lifted a hand to measure where the star’s location had progressed, noticing how the day was getting warmer with each minute. The sun was beating down, at the peak of its climb and radiating brightly onto the world's residents. But it wasn't the time that had caught the emerald eyes.
Dark smoke was puffing upwards before dissipating into a haze of grey, a sign that could have meant several different things. One, there was another individual or individuals out building a fire. Or two, a natural fire was ensuing and would soon be threatening to engulf any wildlife near it. With a while longer of gazing, however, the amount of clouds had not increased, giving hints that the fire was most likely contained.
Someone lounging about in the ol’ ruins? It piqued his interest, but his attention was drawn away by a distraction once again. A small disturbance in Julmunui's disposition, an attitude of hunt along with other sensory inputs. Without hesitation, Quinn dashed towards the direction where he felt his soul tug at him, quickly seeing the camp come into view and reflexively dodging behind one of the remaining chunks of stone wall.
A green eye poking over the edge, he saw the cat positioned oppositely from him, hidden away in the nearby shrubbery but trained on the camp’s pile of fish. The similarly hued irises momentarily flickered up at the boy, the two being able to communicate at a distance without a word or noise. The two could see the man in the vicinity, and while one wished to continue with the steal, the other urged to hold back.
The stranger seemed at peace, but still armed, and Quinn didn't want to disturb the man. It was inevitable, however, for he could feel the moment that Julmunui decided to leap out and reacted similarly. Crossing the distance with a few steps, the boy reached out his staff to cover the remaining distance and hit the butt into the ground before the cat with a scold.
“Ani, baby, You can't do that!”
The long spotted spine arched and a hiss was let out, but the girl had backed off a few feet, although still remaining within the perimeter. Immediately afterwards, Quinn whirled around to face the stranger, tucking the staff against his arm behind him and hoping that they weren't too startled or angered by his sudden presence.
“I'm really sorry about that! I didn't mean to bother you or anything like that…”.
Max was changing the fish on the trident when a sudden movement caught his eye, followed by the sound of something hitting the stone floor of the courtyard. He quickly lit a fire ball, suspecting someone was planning to rob all the fish and another person must've stopped the would be thief, but to his pleasant surprise, it was a young man, from the colour of his hair, he was sun clan and he stopped a cat from taking the fish from the sounds of it. The cat back away after the scolding from the boy and he nervously turned to face Max who had the fire ball fade from his hand as he apologized for what had happened, something Max simply laughed at.
"Nonsense! A cat can't be blamed for following it's own instincts, in fact, if you want, you may take as much fish as you want, I'll even cook it for you!" The old man would offer with a smile on his face, happy to have company that seemed rather polite once more, However he quickly turned his attention back to the fire, placing yet another set of three fish on the trident and placing the smoke dried fish inside a burlap sack and he placed the burlap sack down beside the trident.
If the younger man wanted Max to cook the fish, he'd grab a single fish and hold it in his hands, his palms begun to glow a bright orange and some light smoke emitted from the fish as it was cooked in his own hands and when he finished cooking the fish he'd place it gently place it on top of a single plate. The plate was meant to be for himself, but he could safety handle his own fire, so it wouldn't be a worry to him, the plate was more for visiting and hygiene.
if he insisted on cooking his own food, "Oh.. Well, I'll let you use my trident, I don't have any way to cook food aside from my magic." Max would explain with a sheepish smile, not expecting the young man to insist on cooking and would remove the fish from the trident and handing the man the trident that was mildly warm from the heat, also letting the young man pick a fish to try and cook, keeping a watchful eye on him to make sure he didn't make a mistake.
If he just took the fish, Max would remain silent regardless of the fish he took from the pile, just having a patient smile and waiting for the younger man to finish grabbing the fish. "Sorry, I do not have a spare bag for you to carry the fish." Max would apologized with a sheepish smile.
Regardless of his choices or if the man declined, Max would think of a topic to talk about. "So what brings you to the ruins?" Max would ask the younger man, curious why he decided to visit such a barren location, surely the stranger wasn't an exile, he was far too polite to be exiled. Though the same could be said for Max, or at least he hoped the same could be said, so it would be interesting to hear the reason why someone so young would visit here.
His eyes honed in on the fiery orb that danced in the other's palm, worry suddenly flooding him for there was little he could do against offensive magic and an aggressive wielder. But his stress diminished just as the fire did, the first sign of peace that let the boy relax.
A hearty welcome was the next sign that allowed Quinn to fully let loose his muscles. There would be no conflict today, but an interesting and friendly encounter to look forward to. His face slipped into a genuine and carefree smile, grateful of the man’s generosity. He also seemed flexible with options, putting a high priority on hospitality as he listed out numerous offers in regards to the caught fish. However, Quinn simply waved the kind gesture off.
“I've already eaten, but thanks for your generosity! Just one will be sufficient enough, to satisfy Julmunui's stomach…”
He bent over the pile, picking out one of the more medium sized catches before tossing it over to the cat that lingered. Sharp jaws opened up immediately and caught the fish greedily, carrying the loot over to a shady spot before proceeding in tearing the flesh.
Maybe he was being a bit stern to the girl recently, trying to keep her out of trouble when the wild instincts didn't know any better. It was something that he would need to keep in mind for the future.
His companion now satiated, the blonde hesitantly wandered back over to the fire, finding a reasonably distanced spot before settling down adjacent to the stranger.
“Mmm, just a curious field trip? There's always stories and legends about the old days, sometimes I can't help but imagine what life was like a hundred years ago.
“What about you? Just out hunting or something else?”
Quinn glanced over at the other, trying to finalize an assumption of what the man’s affiliation might be. A pale head of hair, possibly of the moon people? Nevermind that, for the boy had no hostility towards different affiliations. A warm greeting was given to him, and he would return a warm response.
Max watched the younger man feed the fish to his pet cat, whose name is apparently Julmunui and as the cat ate, the young man observed the cat ever so briefly, perhaps he was admiring the cat and how thankfully he was to own a little companion, something Max had longed for, but the ruins wasn't exactly a place for house pets. He would've loved to own a dog, a German Sheppard more specifically, he heard a lot about how loyal those breeds could be, however a cat would probably be nice to own, especially in the ruins, quiet and natural hunters, he might be able to include birds into his diet if he had a cat. As the young man returned, he sat with Max near the fire and was pleased that he chose to answer his question and stay a little while with the old man.
Max smiled at that response, a young man exploring and trying to learn more about the past was heart warming, it was young lads like him that was the best hope for peace and unity among the two warring clans. The younger man asked Max why he was out here, guessing that the older man was hunting or something similar to it, causing yet another smile to spread across the old man's face, he was pleased to have a more kind guest than the usual. "Sorta, I live in the ruined halls over there, but I am out here fishing and cooking, kinda hard to cook food inside a closed room." Max would explain to the younger lad, wondering if he would question why he lived out here, though it could be assumed Max was a exile, something that might scare the young man based on his earlier reaction to the fireball.
"No worries however, I may be an exile, but I did it myself, I much rather live in the ruins away from the war. Though I am more than capable of defending myself, so no worries about me falling to victim to the others.." Max explained, not wanting him to worry about him or any danger he may pose to the younger man, still smiling the same genuine smile as before, laughing slightly at the end of his explanation, hopefully not intimidating him whatsoever.
There was only one explanation to the current scenario, and that was that this individual was an exile. It was possible for certain individuals to purposely choose to live distant from the bustling communities, but it was rare with the wilderness threats. Now, exiled for what? Quinn’s curiosity strongly wished to inquire for an answer, but knew it rude to ask for such a personal secret, especially for someone you had just met for a few seconds. The blonde kept the questions to himself for the moment.
“That’s understandable, since smoke can get quite irritating if kept in closed confines for an extensive time. I have seen in some of the village homes, however, a style of chutes and machinery creatively designed to channel the smoke outside. It’s probably also just a lot easier to cook outside, though.”
The final confirmation came, the man revealing himself that he belonged to the group of exiles along with a clearcut explanation. And it was an explanation that piqued his interest, to find someone who had willingly cut themselves off from their homes…
“I can get behind that reasoning. A large fraction of the territories still have their heads in the fires, expressing their strong distastes against the opponent clan. The start of the conflict was such a long time ago, though, and I’m not sure many even know why we were fighting against each other in the first place…
“It’s nice that you’ve been able to find peace out here though, but is it just yourself out here?"
As the younger man explained the concept of a fireplace to Max, he couldn't help but chuckle. "I'm not that old lad, I know how to build that, but I just don't have the proper supplies, kinda hard to find metal tubes that won't allow smoke to sneak out and all, even then I'd need other metal stuff to hold the tubes to the wall or risk someone tripping on it. Even then, I think it looks far more nicer with nature running free. " Max would explain, as he did so, his voice went slightly to anger on mentioning having to find all the right tools and supplies, yet ending with the the same kind voice upon reflecting on how nice nature is. Max had indeed attempted to build a fire place for others, but the few times he managed to get the pieces together, they were quickly stolen by others, what for was completely unknown to him, but it meant that the one he built the face place for would be at risk of smoke inhalation, so he often had to scrap the work.
The people of the ruins weren't always community minded and often fought over anything, until Max arrived, there was a group that often came here to steal the few things the people of the ruins had, no one was sure who this group belonged to, but they came often and took almost everything, leaving just scraps behind. It was truly dark days, but some day Max will help the people of the ruins become the pillar of unity it once was.
As Max thought, the younger man went on to explain he didn't know anything about the start of the war either, something that Max found interesting, even the sun clan knew nothing. He longed for an answer on why the war started so he may try to broker peace upon the two clans, surely if the war started over one problem, solving the one problem will fix the war, but the aftermath would be a whole other story.
The young man then went on to ask if Max was alone here, something that Max had to take a moment to think about, he had the people of the ruins to care for, yet he was the only one living in his home, but the entirety of the ruins felt like home. "In a certain sense, no. I have all the people of the ruins to care for, they may be strangers, but we all live within the ruins. However I do live in my home alone, if that's what you're asking The old man would explain, passion heard in his voice as he talked about caring for the others who came to call the ruins home, but ending it with a more cheerful tone and a slight laugh. "And what of you? Have you came on trip with just your cat?" Max would ask the younger man, wondering if more sun clan were off exploring the ruins while the two chatted, he hoped his people would get along with the sun clan if they came into contact with each other, assuming of course there were more than this stranger knew of.
He could feel the bit of edge that slipped into the older man’s voice, a short understandable flare that was gone as quickly as it came. Construction wasn’t the most convenient especially if an individual wanted any fancier installations to the structure. A lot of his community’s fireplaces were built within the past few years, a new project with all planning revolved the purposeful mechanics. Should anyone want the addition in a pre-existing establishment, their few metallurgists and smiths by blessed nature were always kept busy.
It seemed, though, that the earth’s natural gifts were effective in calming the exile’s soul, and Quinn had no arguments about it. With a special connection to life within his heart, being around the towering soldiers of flora and skittering spirits of fauna was therapeutic.
“Ah, there are others here? I just wasn’t expecting too many individuals to be out here...”
It was the general impression within the territories that the wilderness had a lot of dangers to it. The golden boy himself knew otherwise due to his peaceful hunting trips, but he always saw people within the villages that were bunched together. He had no statistic on how many individuals were exiled, but the concept had been taught with quite the negative reputation, thus Quinn’s assumption was that people dared not to be kicked out from their homes.
“I guess it’s nice that there are still some individuals that can occasionally give you company when you need it, and yeah, it’s just be and Julmunui out here. On our own out here and appreciating the leisure time!”
The jungle rustled as Wesley made his trek through the jungle, he needed a better lay of the land. Best to know where he could hide or ambush from if the need ever arrived. He found some small rivers that was shallow enough that he could catch fish in if he could find some branches that were large enough to make into a make shift spear to spear fish with. Something that he has never done, but it would be a useful skill if he was unsuccessful at hunting. If he was to survive here he needed more than one plan the obtain food.
He noticed smoke out of the corner of his eye. As dangerous as that could be he ventured forward, but he needed to know if was a area to avoid or if it could be used as a safe area. It was not all that far off, maybe five minutes off. He moved cautiously forward as he approached. He carefully watched where he stepped to avoid stepping on branches, fallen leaves or stepping through tall grass as the rustling sound could easily give away his position. He could hear voices as got closer the origin of the smoke.
He could hear the voices clearly as he inched closer, making use of a patch of tall brush. He needed to get a little bit closer, hopefully get a eye on his unknowing 'friends'. He needed to gather information on what they looked like, how they acted, and so on just incase they were hostile. Through the grass he could see the reason for the fire; he saw fish cooking near the fire on spits, but he still could not see their faces. He took another step before he heard a snap. His eyes looked down at a small stick that he had missed.
He clicked his tongue as he carefully stepped through brush. He was wearing his lighter armor that archers/crossbowmen would wear, his hand near his tanto in case he had to draw it to defend himself. His brown eyes darted left and right looking at the two people in front of him. One man was obviously older and was missing an eye. The other was another man that was around his own age that had blonde hair like he did. Well they did not look prepared for another person to arrive. He hoped to get information still, but he did not know how this would play out. They did not look armed so the chances of this going well rose with him. His hand slowly traveled away from his tanto.

The younger lad seemed rather surprise at the revelation of other people choosing to make the ruins their home, but Max could see why, the first time he was here, someone tried to ambush him from within the shadows. The people here are scarce and tend to hide away from others, Max wasn't entirely too sure why they often chose to hide, but the few that do show their face usually are... less than normal in head. It was quite sad really, driven away from their homes and can only find solace in where they end up, that place just happened to be the ruins, even if it just for a while.
"Yes, people call this home as well, however, the few who do are not exactly too keen on meeting new faces... Unless they have money."Max would tell the young man about the his people and also warning him at the same time. His people were here for a reason after all, it was only fair to let the younger man know that not everyone will be as friendly as Max will be, especially if the boy traveled further down the ruins, his people tended to hide further from others. The boy then expressed his joy with Max not be alone here, something that Max was fond of as well, but more polite companions much like the younger man would always be welcomed, it has been a while since he had a proper talk like this.
"Yes, I agree, the company is quite nice..." Max would say, his kind voice trailing off, he was a little unsure if he should keep talking, but still he all ready begun. "However the people here aren't exactly too... Civil" The old man would explain, his voice seeming a little hesitant to say civil, it was true but still, he didn't want to feel to comfortable about talking lowly of his friends and neighbors behind their back. "Anyways, I don't think I quite caught your name yet stranger.... My name is Max Caudwell, I'm formerly from the moon clan." Max would say with a big smile and a single hand extended out toward the stranger.
However, a sudden snap of branch alerted the old man as he turned to face the noise with a single orange fire ball resting on his palm rather quickly, Max was ready for any aggressive behavior. The stranger seemed oddly like the young man sitting with him, but judging from the way he looked around, he might've been new to the ruins, but he didn't recognize the young man, his hair suggested sun clan, so he assumed he wouldn't fight one of his own kind. "Another explorer? What brings you to the ruins? Max would ask the new explorer, his fire ball fading away.
An illustration of a more savage environment, it was an unfortunate truth, but it was the truth that Quinn made himself deal with. He wanted to be open to different perspectives, but there was the occasional moment where he had to think like the rest of the pack. Not all exiles were peaceful individuals. They were kicked from their old communities, afterall.
He took the hand with a smile, his smaller, delicate one sinking into the other.
“Quinn! From the Sun and still am. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Caudwell~”
Their alliances were exposed, but it was enlightening to the youth that such details didn’t matter. From the Moon goddess or the Sun god, there was no baseless hostility between the two.
The crackling of fire logs and the cracking of a twig, the sounds had overlapped and did not alter the sunny boy, but he was more than aware of Julmunui’s alertness. Emeralds snapped up in time to see the cat bound away with her loot clamped in jaws, leaving the vicinity of their newcomer.
Max had already summoned a flaring orb in his palm, a defensive reaction with a position ready for combat. Quinn, on the other hand, was not as quick to assume a pose but kept his muscle tense and prepared for action. He had no offensive magic himself and excelled in distance when it came to battles. Should the man required aid, he was ready to give it.
But no conflict had arisen yet, the stranger being cautious themselves in regards to where they tread. Their face was young, hair mirroring his own, but the clothes were foreign. Quinn had not seen the individual around his homes once, and was suspicious of the fashion that branched to neither the Sun’s or Moon’s.
He let the older man take care of communication, the strong voice already calling out. Not wanting to be too rash, he patiently waited to see what the stranger wanted from them.
Wesley's guard heightened again when the man that was missing an eye summoned a ball of fire from his hand. He knew that if he threw that fireball at him there would be no way for him to close in to attack. He just hoped that things would not escalate as he moved his hand even farther away from his tanto. As he watched that fireball disappear he felt his prayers answered and he further answered in kind bringing his hand to his side. The other man was only tense at how things had started out, but he seemed to calm down first a good thing for him.
When the man asked him a question Wesley blinked a few times as if he was trying to calm down from his little adrenaline high. "I am exploring as you said when you called me a explorer. What I am doing is having a look around learning my surroundings. You know how that goes, learning where I can potentially get food, water, and shelter. You know the first steps of survival." Wesley said as he kept an eye on both of them. He was telling the truth, since he was dumped on this island. The look the younger man had given him was keeping him a little more tense. He had nothing to go on, he was keeping quiet and was not acting hostile. Which brought up the question friend or foe for him.
"Anyways it is a good thing that you were not enemies that would attack on sight. Was not sure what to expect, was only trying to listen in till you know." He further said; gesturing to the brush behind him. He was still on guard, ready to spring and run if it came to it. His eye kept a steady watch sweeping left and right keeping an eye on both of them. "Ah right, my name is Wesley." He said introducing himself. He still had an uneasy feeling, but he was going to have to deal with it for the time being. He did not know how things were exactly run on this island so he had to proceed with extreme caution till he could figure more out about this place.

Max was glad to know the man from the sun clan was friendly and didn't harbor any hate towards him, though he did seem a bit frightened about the fire balls he summoned earlier, he hoped the young man didn't feel worried about being around Max, though the arrival of the new stranger alerted the pair. When the situation appeared to be defused, Max waited for the man to explain what he was doing and as he did so, Max listened carefully to the man's words, noting that the younger man was trying to survive and based on the other man's reaction, he didn't know this person, could he perhaps be new? That would be quite interesting, there'd be many things for him to learn and vice versa, though the most important thing Max wanted to know was if others outside knew of the clans and their magic.
The stranger seemed on edge about the sun clan, only further confirming his thoughts about the stranger being an outsider. The man explained why he had chosen to hide instead of directly approaching the duo, surely if he was one of the clans he would've recognized either of the two, further confirming that the stranger was an outsider, this was going to be quite interesting, though he wondered if he could be accepted into either of the clans, the ruins might not be the best for him, especially if he cannot use magic. The stranger than revealed himself to be named Wesley, noting that he was indeed listening in on their conversation, something that was a little rude, but forgivable considering everything that the stranger might've went through.
"Well, you're free to stay as long as you like! But may I ask why are you trying to survive? Don't you have a clan? Or the very least a home?" Max would ask the stranger, trying to make sure they were indeed a newcomer to the island, though he did hope that he was crossing the line with his line of questioning. However, before Wesley could explain, Max would cut in"Oh! You must be hungry actually, please, help yourself to some fish, I can cook if you wish." Max would offer with a kind smile, using one of his hands to gesture toward the smoked fish that seemed rather dry resting on the trident, beside it was a small pile of raw fish.
Quinn knew the details of exploration, having gone on several expeditions himself. He knew about the essentials of survival too, but not of any experience of it. In comparison to the other two in his vicinity, the sun clanner still had the security and ease of his tree home back in the jungle.
A name was given, but there were details spoken that kept the suspicious in his heart rummaging around. Eavesdropping wasn't the most welcome, and the golden blond marked the stranger as an ill mannered individual. But it wasn't that first impression that nagged at his mind.
Enemies? Those on the island were more than aware of the few affiliations possible. You either belonged to the Moon, the Sun, or you belonged to the Exiled, stuck in the clutches of the wilderness’ jaws.
Max remained friendly in his greeting, but managed to inquire the confusion that was also present in Quinn's thoughts, giving the boy a bit more room to relax. He would continue waiting underneath the Exile’s leadership, wanting a bit more information about the overly cautious stranger that had found their way to the billowing fire.
As Wesley's eyes drifted left and right he had a look at the ruins. Hm, these ruins seem easily defendable, possibly a lot of places to hide inside. Someone would need quite a bit of manpower to take it. Shields and spears could easily hold narrow corridors. He thought to himself before the older man's question grabbed his attention. Before he could answer the old man him some fish. "Ah, now you mention it I am a bit hungry thank you. Did not realize how long it was since I last ate." Wesley said before started to walk over to the smoked fish, grabbed one off the trident to eat.
"No clan, I do have a makeshift home in a somewhat small cave, well hidden not all too far off from here. The reason why I am trying to survive is because I got washed up here after being washed off the deck of a fishing boat." Wesley answered with a shrug. He knew revealing that may bring trouble, but he stayed pretty close to the truth. "That reminds me, do you have a reasonable sized branch that I can make a fishing spear out of? It would help me along mister...." Wesley asked before realizing he did not ask for their names.
With a mental facepalm he thought of one of the previous questions the older man had asked. He said something about clans, but how many clans were there and how was their relationship he wondered. If they were both friendly with each other he did not exactly want to tick them off, make them enemies. If he did living in this place would become very hard.
